Onimusha: Way of the Sword PC Requirements & File Size

Updated August 26, 2026 · Facts cross-checked against the sources listed below

The unusual bits first: Windows 11 is required even at minimum (no Win10 spec), you need 16 GB RAM and 50 GB on an SSD, and the PC build ships with Denuvo (5 activations per day). Minimum GPU is a GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT for 1080p·30; recommended is an RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 for 1080p·60 — both assuming upscaling (DLSS 4.5 / FSR 3.1) is on. Not sure? Capcom ships a free benchmark tool — run it before you buy.

Three things stand out. Windows 11 only — unusual even among 2026 releases. Both frame-rate targets assume upscaling enabled — Capcom lists DLSS 4.5 and FSR 3.1 support, plus a frame-interpolation option. And the SSD is mandatory, not suggested. The build also ships with Denuvo Anti-tamper limited to 5 PC activations per day per the Steam DRM notice.

Don’t guess — run the official benchmark

Capcom released a free benchmark tool on July 13 for Steam and Epic (18 GB download, found via the store pages). It plays a representative scene and scores your rig with average FPS, 1% lows and a settings readout, with a loop mode for repeat testing. Two notes from testing coverage: enabling frame interpolation lowers the score while raising in-game frame rate (the tool scores raw frames), and Capcom warns the demo’s performance “does not fully reflect the final product” — the benchmark is the better predictor. An RTX 5070 Ti test pushed 129→336 fps with 4x frame generation, so no hard frame cap exists at least in the benchmark single outlet test.

All figures are Capcom’s own, with the honest caveat attached: “frame rate may drop in certain scenes.” The Xbox listing adds HDR10, VRR, Dolby Atmos/DTS:X and a ray-tracing capability badge store capability tags, unelaborated. Two gaps we’re tracking: no PS5 Pro-specific specs exist despite a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” store label, and no 120 fps mode is mentioned anywhere.

Handhelds: Steam Deck and friends

No Valve rating yet, but the benchmark has been run: on Deck, the lowest preset with FSR averaged 46 fps with 1% lows around 20, and the standard Low preset averaged 36 — with dips under 30 in effect-heavy fights. Verdict from testers: playable at Lowest, pending launch-day optimization. Known handheld quirks from the demo (wrong VRAM readout on Deck, an age-gate softlock on the Legion Go S, LT/RT soul-absorption issues) are collected on the demo page.

Game Pass, Play Anywhere and store facts

  • Not on Game Pass as of this writing — full price ($69.99) on the Xbox store, no subscription announcement. We’ll update if that changes.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere: yes — one Microsoft purchase covers console and Windows PC.
  • HDR on all platforms; Switch 2 supports TV HDR and NSO cloud saves, with Joy-Con 2 motion aiming for the Oni Bow.
  • 14 languages, 9 with full audio — including English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese voice tracks (see the cast page for who speaks them).

Undecided on hardware? Check when each platform unlocks — and remember the editions are identical across platforms, so the hardware choice is purely about performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it really require Windows 11?

That is what Capcom’s official spec sheet says — both minimum and recommended list Windows 11 with no Windows 10 tier. Whether Win10 merely lacks support or actively blocks the game is untested; we’ll verify at launch.

Is it on Game Pass?

No — as of late August 2026 there is no Game Pass announcement and the Xbox store page shows a full-price purchase. It does support Xbox Play Anywhere, so one Microsoft purchase covers Xbox and PC.

Will it run on Steam Deck?

Playable but compromised. Valve hasn’t rated it yet; independent benchmark runs on Deck averaged ~46 fps on the lowest preset with FSR (1% lows around 20, dips below 30 in heavy fights). Expect a Lowest-settings experience pending launch optimization.

How big is the download?

50 GB on PC per the official spec (SSD required). Switch 2 retail packaging suggests about 34 GB, but that number isn’t official yet. PS5/Xbox install sizes are unannounced.
